So, you need to use periodicals as sources for your research paper? Here’s how:

How to find articles on your topic:

· Use the Christian Periodical Index): (this link and index only works at the Library front desk search computer)

1. Christian Periodical Index): (this link and index only works at the Library front desk search computer) indexes over one third of the periodicals that we receive (67 out 185 titles). See below for a list of titles we receive that are indexed in Christian Periodical Index.

2. You can search Christian Periodical Index by subject or author. Under each subject or author heading are listings of articles that look like this:

ABRAHAM (BIBLICAL PATRIARCH) Providence as provision. R. C. Sproul. ill. Moody 97:46-9 Mar. 1997.

(SUBJECT HEADING) (Title) (Author) (illustrated) (Periodical title) (volume #:pages) (month year)

If the abbreviation “bibl.” appears after the author’s name, it means there is a bibliography of related books and other articles, at the end of the article.

3. Once you have a list of articles for your subject (or author) from the index, check to see which periodicals we receive (a list is kept by the indexes). We do not receive all titles indexed in the Christian Periodical Index.

4. If an article you want is not available in this library, ask a student worker or librarian for assistance in getting the article from another source.

· For periodicals not indexed in Christian Periodical Index, check the periodical's web site for a search index; or check to see if the last issue of each year has a subject index to articles published in that year.

· In the Research Guides for most classes, there is a list of periodical titles that may be useful in further study. Many of these periodicals are indexed in Christian Periodical Index.
